Home Sweet Home

What does home sweet home really look like?
For a long time, I thought home was simply a place. Four walls. A familiar street. A town where everyone knew your name.
Now I'm beginning to believe home has never been about a location.
Home is where your soul can finally exhale.
As I look back over every chapter of my life, I realize each one has shaped me into the person I am today. Every home I've lived in. Every goodbye. Every friendship. Every heartbreak. Every season of healing. Every mountain and every valley.
None of it was wasted.
God used every single piece of my story to lead me exactly where I needed to be.
I'll never forget the homes that came before this one. I'll never forget the residents I shared life with, the caregivers who invested in me, or the church family who loved me so well. Those people will always hold a special place in my heart. They were part of God's provision for that season, and I will forever be grateful.
But now...
I've been welcomed into another family.
Not because I earned it. Not because I had everything together. Simply because they opened their arms and made room for me.
That kind of love changes a person.
People keep asking me, "How's everything going?"
Honestly, I struggle to find the words.
The only way I know how to describe it is this:
It feels like a dream.
Not because life is perfect. My disabilities didn't magically disappear. I still have hard days. I still have limitations. There are still appointments, unknowns, and moments that remind me my journey isn't over.
But for the first time in a long time, I don't feel defined by those limitations.
Instead, I feel supported.
I feel safe.
I feel seen.
I feel like I can breathe.
This is the life I quietly prayed for—the kind of life where I could have both independence and protection. Where I could be encouraged to grow while knowing there are people nearby when I need help.
I used to wonder why God kept closing doors that I desperately wanted to walk through. Looking back now, I can see His hand even in the disappointments. If one door had stayed open, I might have missed the place He was preparing for me all along.
"The Lord says, 'I know the plans I have for you... plans for peace and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"
– Jeremiah 29:11
And maybe that's what home really is.
It's trusting that wherever God plants you, His presence is there before you arrive.
It's finding peace in places you never expected.
It's discovering that sometimes God's greatest gifts come wrapped in unexpected circumstances.
Home isn't where everything is easy.
Home is where God reminds you that you're deeply loved.
Today, my heart is full.
For every chapter that brought me here.
For every goodbye that made room for a new hello.
For every person who has walked beside me.
And for the God who never stopped leading me home.
"Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."
– Isaiah 43:19
